Putting together a Proxmox home server to run a bunch of self-hosted stuff like Paperless NGx for docs, Mealie for meal planning, Pi-hole to block ads, Home Assistant for smart home control, Frigate for camera monitoring, and Ollama for a local LLM setup.
Figured I'd add a Coral TPU to help with Frigate's processing, especially if I'm dealing with AI features.
Wondering what hardware I should go for to keep everything running smoothly without lag. Stuff like CPU power, RAM amount, and storage options (thinking NVMe for speed but open to ideas).
To make this easier, I'm on a moderate budget and might start with 2-4 cameras for Frigate at 1080p resolution. For Ollama, planning smaller models at first, no big GPU needs yet. Also, considering basic redundancy and keeping noise/power low.
What's everyone else using for similar setups? Any tips on avoiding common pitfalls or comparisons between hardware choices? Love to hear your experiences and suggestions.
