Running a Dell R730 with Proxmox and my Jellyfin server's storage is maxed out. Spotted an EMC KTN-STL3 JBOD (15 bays, dual 8088 SAS controllers) on eBay and it's tempting to add it to the rack since HDDs are cheap and I've got space.
Basic idea: Pick up an LSI 9200-8e in IT mode, link it with an SFF-8088 cable to the JBOD, then load it up with around 10 3.5" HDDs. Figure ZFS on Proxmox can manage the pooling, maybe in a RAIDZ2 for some redundancy.
This setup feel right or am I missing something? Like, how's the compatibility with the R730 or any cable/powering issues? Anyone tried similar or switched to something else for storage expansion? Sharing your setups or tips would be great, thinking about alternatives too if they're simpler.
